Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

It is amazing to finally say that I am currently working on... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!  As a guy who grew up in the late 80s and early 90s, I am a great fan of the Ninja Turtles series.  Four cool and green dudes with ninja skills, fighting soldier clans and alien robots, eating pizzas while riding on skateboards... what more can a child ask for in a cartoon?

I never thought in my life that I will be a part of the wonderful show, so it's been incredibly amazing to live this dream of animating on the show.  I am learning tremendously from the series and from my talented animation peers, especially in the ninjyutsu action!  Haiya!  For someone that loves fighting sequences, this show has been very challenging and rewarding.

If you have the time, please view the show - it is very entertaining for all ages, even for a thirty-something like myself!  :)

申し送れましたが、今はＴｅｅｎａｇｅ　Ｍｕｔａｎｔ　Ｎｉｎｊａ　Ｔｕｒｔｌｅｓの番組のアニメーションしています！80年、90年代のＴＶアニメ代表というべきのシリーズは、自分が子供の頃から見続けていましたので、ファンです！四匹の亀忍者が悪忍族や宇宙人と戦い、ピザを食べながらスケボーする。。。こんな楽しい子供番組はなかなかないと思います！その番組に関わるのは、自分にとってある意味夢が実現したと感じています。 注目を浴びている番組である分、質の良い演技や戦闘アニメーションが求められている番組ですので、やりがいとチャレンジ性があり楽しい毎日であります。特にアニメーション製作チームは優秀なメンバーが集まっているので、学ぶことも一杯です！これからも頑張りたいと思っています。 時間がありましたら、ＴＶで是非見て下さい！僕みたいな３０代の人も、面白い！と楽しんでみています。：）

I apologize for not being able to update the blog for the past few months.   The current show I`m working on has been a challenging but very rewarding show, and I can`t wait for it to be airing on television anytime soon.  I will mention the name of the show once it is aired, but until then... please twiddle your thumbs!  All I can say is that it is a show that you should know about if you grew up in the 80s and 90s.  Please stay tuned!

I am also hoping to find the time to add some illustrations that I do on my spare time.  A new demo reel is also in the works as well!  :)

最近ブログ更新することができませんでした。。。本当に申し訳ありません！現在は当プロジェクトのアニメーションに専念していて、それは結構作業が大変ではありますが本当に貴重な経験になっています。今月の終わり頃にアメリカ・カナダに放送する予定ですので、それまでにはプロジェクト名は言えませんが、80年ー９０年生まれの人なら知っているアニメーション番組だと伝えておきます。楽しみにしてください！

又、最近スケッチすることが多くなってきましたので、将来ブログに載せていきます。デモリールも更新しますので、待ってくださいね！

Wreck-It Ralph

The new 3DCG movie from Disney is "Wreck-It Ralph".  As a nostalgic gamer I am really excited to watch this movie when it comes out. They got all these cameos from various video games too: Zangief, Bowser and Eggman!?   I can't wait.

Behind the Scenes of "Brave"

There's is an excellent video showing behind the scenes footage for Pixar's upcoming film, "Brave".  It's amazing how the Pixar studio looks less of a workplace and more like a fun playhouse.  I am definitely looking forward to this film later this year.


今回のビデオはＰｉｘａｒの最新作「Ｂｒａｖｅ」の現場映像です。スタジオ自体は仕事場より遊び場見たいな感じですね！本作に大期待しています。

Mac 'n' Cheese

Four students in the Netherlands created this fascinating animation of a lanky man being chased by a brute dude... but for what reason?  The various styles incorporated in the short is very entertaining to watch, almost making me think that if Wile. E. Coyote and Roadrunner were human beings, this is what their chase would look like.

 

四人のオランダ学生達が作り上げた素晴らしいアニメーションです。一見はひ弱そうな男性が豪腕に追われているようですが。。。様々なスタイルがあるこのショートはとっても面白く、もしWarner Brothersのワイル・E・コヨーテとロードランナーが人間化していたらこのような追跡になっていたのだろうなと思わせる作品です。

Its Evolution Baby!

I love watching music videos. I enjoy how a director decides the visual expression the music it represents.  I believe this is one video that is well done.

音楽PV見るのが本当に大好きです。監督はどのようにして音楽を視的な表現に作り上げられるのか。このビデオはその巧さを見せていると思います。

PES - Fresh Guacamole

PES always make entertaining stop motion animation. They sure find unique ways of showing everyday objects as something else! I wonder if children see things this way when they are playing make-believe.

 

PESのストップ・モーション・アニメーションはとっても面白い。どんな発想が日常生活の物を全く別物に見せられることができるのでしょうか？子供達がままごとをする時もこのような感覚で遊んでいるのかもしれませんね。

Posing a Character with a Figurine!

A company in Japan recently developed a technology that may assist both CG professional and enthusiasts to pose 3D rigged models with a figurine model.  By just adjusting the limbs on a plastic mannequin that is connected to a PC, users can now manipulate their favourite characters with ease.  I'd like to try it out one day!

ある日本の会社が開発したCGシステムは、なんと実際のフィギュアモデルを操作してCGキャラクターをポーズする事が出来るようになりました。フィギュアの腕、足などをの間接を曲げるだけでPCの画面に映るCGキャラのしぐさ、ポーズを簡単に変えることが出来ます。一度試してみたいですね！

Thank you very much for visiting my blog! It has been quite a while since my last update which up uploading my latest demo reel. Actually, most of my blog posts have been all about my demo reel. Hmm... I think I need to do a better job to make more posts. 

Along with occasional demo reel updates, I've decided that I wanted to post some great animation videos on this blog. I will post them on a weekly basis, and will hopefully continue to post them more frequently. I hope they will be entertaining, and will get your creative juices flowing. As a start, I have posted one of my favorite music videos from Japan, Blood Thirsty Butchers' "Jack Nicolson."

   

Though it is not "fully animated", I find it to be a perfect example of how a story can be well-told with just solid key poses. I hope you guys like it!
